Farmington vs. Ashdown in the 4A Softball Championship

The Farmington Lady Cardinals faced off against the Ashdown Lady Panthers Friday May 21, 2011 at Bogle Park in Fayetteville. Farmington surged to a commanding 7-0 lead early in the game, but Ashdown clawed their way back to make the game 7-5 in the top of the seventh inning. Farmington got two quick outs against Ashdown before they got a runner on first base as a storm rapidly approached the stadium. With lightning threatening the safety of the players and spectators, the game went into a rain delay and was eventually cancelled for the evening and will be restated on Saturday May 22 at 9 a.m. at the top of the seventh inning with Ashdown at the plate with two outs.

What an exciting game, it is too bad the game had to be delayed, but the safety of the players if first and foremost in the thoughts of everyone in charge of game management. No championship is worth the health of any player.

After the game was restarted on Saturday it only took Farmington five pitches to win a the 4A State Softball Championship. All the girls worked very hard all season long and during the two days it took to win the championship. Congratulations to the Farmington Lady Cardinals for their season of success.
