Jurelang Zedkaia, president of the Republic of the Marshall Islands, visited students at Springdale High School today, Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011. The students gave some very memorable performances – a dance as well as some singing – and the event was preceeded by Zedkaia speaking to the students. Most of the event was spoken in Marshallese, so I did not understand what was being said, but from the President’s face, I think I could understand that he was very proud of these students.
It’s not very often one gets to meet a dignitary of a country so today was an honor. I personally really enjoy Polynesian culture as well, so today’s performances were the cherry on top of a great assignment.
