Wind Turbines at J.B. Hunt Park in Springdale

Today I got to watch crews construct a 45 foot tall wind turbine/solar panel hybrid system at J.B. Hunt Park in Springdale. The system will help offset the cost of lights on the trail, pavilions and restrooms at the park. The utility company will install a two way meter which will let any surplus power produces from the dual system to travel back into the grid. Unfortunately the solar panels had not arrived yet so that part of the system was not operational yet. By the time I left the turbines were spinning and making energy and a really cool low frequency whirling sound. I like the idea of more cities trying to come up with more ways to make clean energy. This won’t replace getting electricity from a power plant, but it will help.
