This was a hard loss for the Lady Cardinals, losing to the Lady Bulldogs of Star City 56-34. The ladies were visibly upset, and it seemed the starters, Lexie Lewis, Haley Maxwell, Tiffany Rhame, Breanne Jones and Rene Scheyder, took it the hardest. While a loss like this is understandably upsetting, I think the important thing to remember is how incredible it is that the team got as far as they did. While it’s always awesome to be the Cinderella story that comes out of nowhere to win the title, second place is pretty dang incredible too! While doing a portrait of Rhame earlier in the week, I got the impression that the Lady Cardinal’s appearance in the state championship wasn’t something that happened every year, thus, to become state runners up is a huge accomplishment! So congratulations to both teams on a great season.
