I spent my morning this past Saturday covering the Tri-Annual XNA Full-Scale Exercise at Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport in Highfill. The multi-agency training exercise simulated a passenger airliner crash and featured live actors portraying crash victims. More than 50 local teenagers from Benton County 4-H and the Civil Air Patrol, along with other community adult and youth volunteers, were made up with fake blood and other graphic theatrical effects, including severed limbs and wounds that squirted blood, to add to the exercise’s realism. I focused my attention on the actors since that was where most of the drama was found. When it was all over I walked away with lots of great photos and even some fake blood splattered on me.
