Parade of Fools

Saturday the Demented Krewe of Dickson and The Committee for Mardi Gras kicked off the Mardi Gras season with the annual Parade of Fools in Fayetteville.

I’m still fairly new to NW Arkansas, and none of the places I’ve lived before had any kind of Mardi Gras celebrations, so this was a new one for me. I didn’t know what to expect, but I imagined there would be people in colorful outfits dancing in the streets and throwing beads to cheering crowds.

I was pretty much spot-on with that prediction, but you don’t take my word for it; The Mardi Gras celebration continues on Fat Tuesday (March 4) with an adults only event that will begin at 8 p.m. on Dickson Street.
