Academic All-Stars

The Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette Academic All-Star team includes Alisha Sahu of Rogers High School, left; Brookelynn Harper of Providence Academy in Rogers; Jeremy Mueller of Farmington High School; Alex O’Brien of Springdale Har-Ber High School; Kate Woolverton of Haas Hall Academy in Fayetteville; Sam Johnson of Fayetteville High School; Allison Torres of Siloam Springs High School; and Mary Bowman Cooper of Bentonville High School.

These kids are all truly impressive. They were a lot of fun to get to know briefly and photograph. My co-worker, Tony Reyes, and I each enjoyed hearing where each student plans to go to college and were impressed to hear what the intend to study. Oddly, none of them want to be a photographer.

About Andy Shupe

Andy Shupe was born at Pensacola Naval Air Station in Pensacola, Fla., before moving to Berea, Ky., where he grew up. After graduating from Berea College with a degree in biology in 1993, Andy moved to Fayetteville and began working for the Northwest Arkansas Times as a clever ploy to enable him to see his beloved Kentucky Wildcats play basketball. In addition to photography, Andy enjoys baseball, working on old cars and marveling at how old that makes him sound.
