Prairie Grove reaches semis in cold rain

Gavin Heltemes (3) of Prairie Grove carries the ball into the end zone ahead of Ta’marcus Howard (23) of Star City Friday, Nov. 27, 2015, during the first half of play at Tiger Stadium in Prairie Grove.

Anyone who knows me knows I’m not the biggest football fan, but a steady cold rain makes me even less excited about covering a game. That said, watching the Tigers and their veteran coach Danny Abshier rip the Bulldogs 50-21 to reach the semifinals was fun. Prairie Grove will host Arkadelphia in the 4A state Semi-finals next week.

About Andy Shupe

Andy Shupe was born at Pensacola Naval Air Station in Pensacola, Fla., before moving to Berea, Ky., where he grew up. After graduating from Berea College with a degree in biology in 1993, Andy moved to Fayetteville and began working for the Northwest Arkansas Times as a clever ploy to enable him to see his beloved Kentucky Wildcats play basketball. In addition to photography, Andy enjoys baseball, working on old cars and marveling at how old that makes him sound.
