Well, this took awhile to put together, but I was able to put up a camera behind the backboard at Wildcat Arena in Springdale. Unfortunately though, I could only stay for the first half of one game. It ended up being a good test run for where to place the camera and what kind of shots it can take. It was a little difficult to get good stills out of it, but it did provide an interesting perspective for video. I put together some clips from the first half of the game with the camera mounted on the Springdale Har-Ber basket.

Coming into work today, I knew we had no art for the Springdale Morning News for Tuesday. Listing to the scanner I heard a Springdale police officer talk about closing the road between Young Elementary and Har-Ber High School for a parade. Not knowing what it was about I ran out there wondering what the elementary school was doing. When I got there, I found Har-Ber High School was having their Homecoming Parade. We knew their Homecoming was this week, but for some reason we did not know the parade was today. Luckily, I heard the police call or we would have missed what turned out to be a nice show of Har-Ber pride.

This was a nice little moment at Har-Ber High School in Springdale when officials converted the school’s gym into a shelter for those displaced by the ice storm. Like so many other places across Northwest Arkansas, strangers became friends in need due to shared circumstances. It’s odd that it seems to take an event of this magnitude to bring out the best in us. Sometimes I wonder how much better our world would be if we were as kind and generous to one another every day.
